Left, Jessie and Flame; Right, Molly and Page.
Flame (Marma's Fireball CGC HIC) belongs to Jessie. At only 5 years of age, Jessie decided she wanted a dog all her own. She worked hard and saved up her money to buy a Sheltie puppy which she wanted to show. Jessie shown Flame in the puppy classes and they have done very well. Jessie has obedience trained Flame, all by herself, and put a CGC on her. Jessie had been very enthusiastic about showing Flame in obedience but has decided she is more interested in persueing Herding with her Shelties. Flame has been Herding Instinct certified on sheep.
Flame is an absolutely beautiful mahogany sable with a perfect, full white ruff and 4 white feet. She is just under 16 inches tall, and was bred by Gail Gorden of Bremen, GA. Her sire is CH Chisterling Wild Oaks Big Deal OFA and her dam is (CH. pointed) Marma’s Chase The Wind OFA. Flame was born 8/13/96.
Jessie has just recently (January of 2001) purchased Andy (ML Andy Steppin' Up). We will be putting up more pictures of Andy and information about him in the near future.
Page (Boniglen's Turn The Page CGC) is Molly’s. Molly was the only one in the family without a dog of her very own. Page was almost a year old when we got her. We decided a young puppy was not going to be the best choice for a rowdy 3 ½ year old, but Page has been exactly what we had hoped for. Molly has been unexpectedly proactive about participating in Page’s care and training. Growing up in a family of dog trainers, she is especially adept for her age at handling her dog. (Big sister Jessie trained and handled Page for her CGC.)
Page is an adorable little bi-blue, 13 ½ inches tall, with a full white ruff and 4 white feet. She was bred by Pat and Chuck Albro of Canton, GA. Her sire is CH. Edgemont’s Blue Rembrandt and her dam is Boniglen’s Mandolin Rain. Page was born 1/30/98.
We have been very lucky with both of our Shelties. We went to many, many breeders and looked for about a year, both locally and via the Internet, until we decided on a breeder to purchase Flame from. Distance did not matter. We had some special requirements, temperamentally speaking, because of all the Dobermans. A shy, submissive Sheltie, or an overly belligerent one, would not have lasted long. Additionally, Jessie wanted a big Sheltie, but not over-sized. We also wanted a puppy with the conformation and pedigree that would allow Jessie to breed her if she wanted to later. It was a tall order. Once we found the right breeder, we had to wait several months for the right puppy. Flame was worth the wait and has made Jessie very happy.
We learned a lot looking for Flame and applied that knowledge in the search for Page.
We had hoped to get Molly her dog for her fourth birthday, and started looking about 7-8
months in advance. About a month or two later, we found out about Page. She was the
first one we actually looked at, and we knew instantly that she would be a perfect match
for Molly. She is. Again, we wanted the conformation and pedigree that would allow Molly
to breed later on if she wanted to.
