Managing local government records and recorded history by bringing together city, county, board of education and historical society documents. Guidelines established by the Secretary of State are followed to determine how long and in what form public records are to be kept. Private records are catalogued and placed for public use. Day-to-day operation of the Thomaston-Upson Archives is managed by the Archivist/Director, who is assisted in developing long-range planning and policy by a Records Advisory Board.
Maximizing Access to local government records and recorded history by centrally locating records with reference assistance from staff and volunteers. Holdings of the Archives are open to the public during regular operating hours. As aids to research, a photocopier, microfilm reader/printer and other equipment are available. In addition, exhibits and programs on local history are presented at the Archives.
