Environmental projects often include a need to assess noise and visual impacts. Such issues frequently arise
on radio tower, landfill, highway, and mining projects. TES addresses these issues by first determining existing
noise levels and generating viewshed drawings. This baseline information is then employed to predict changes
that might result from the proposed action.
TES also has experience conducting recreation surveys and planning recreation facilities as a component of
mitigation plans. Recreation planning is often an important aspect of relicensing hydroelectric projects, and thus
most of the recreation surveys conducted by TES addressed existing recreation activities associated with
hydroelectric facilities. Staff members have also worked with project engineers and architects in the design of
recreation trails proposed as mitigation for project impacts.
