Procedures for Connecting and Running Remote Scoping via the Internet Using Microsoft NetMeeting
1. It is recommended that you use a 56K modem connection and have 32Mb RAM on your computer.
2. Make sure the scopist's Hyperkeys, Magickeys, EZKeys or Turbokeys are loaded on the reporter's computer.
Please note: Once the scopist connects to the reporter’s computer, the scopist’s keyboard becomes the reporter’s keyboard.
3. Reporter hooks up as if he/she is going to realtime to their computer.
A. The reporter sets his/her CAT system up in realtime mode.
B. The reporter brings up NetMeeting. The reporter selects his/her
CAT system as the program to "Share."
C. The scopist brings up NetMeeting and gets permission to "join" the session.
D. Both the reporter and scopist select "Collaborate."
E. Both the reporter and scopist check the option "Do Not Disturb" or other NetMeeting users will try to join your meeting.
F. The connection is made and the system is ready for the scopist to start editing the transcript.
Please note: Even though this is less expensive than using a direct connection, we feel that it is not as reliable as using pcAnywhere. One of the reasons is, if you get disconnected at any time, you cannot reconnect as easily as you can using pcAnywhere. The reporter may not be able to stop the proceedings in order to admit you into the session again.
