Having
a diversity of life experiences enables me to relate to, draw from, and
serve a wide variety of organizational cultures. I grew up on a dairy farm
in western Pennsylvania, where I gained an appreciation for hard work and
was instilled with a strong work ethic. Upon graduating from high school,
I enlisted in the Army and served a tour of duty in Europe, bringing me
into contact with the international community. When my military service
ended, I attended and graduated from Clarion State University, Clarion,
Pennsylvania. That educational experience, together with graduate studies
at St. Bonaventure University, opened the door to teaching, and
led to a long productive career in the school system. Subsequent to
teaching, I served as assistant principal, principal, and eventually,
superintendent.
Retirement from my school system-based career has provided the
opportunity to take my broad background to new venues, and to provide an
independent, fresh, creative perspective in dealing with frustrating
problems and other organizational needs. The array of experiences has
imparted a particular sensitivity to rural and small-to-moderate-sized
organization issues.
