Abdali Road - Kuwait
Abdali is commonly referred to as the "Highway of Death." This was the main roadway leaving Kuwait City towards Bahgdad. On February 26th and 27th 1991, U.S. planes trapped long convoys of fleeing Iraqi's by disabling vehicles in the front, and at the rear, and then pounded the resulting traffic jams for hours. "It was like shooting fish in a barrel," said one U.S. pilot.
These pictures were shot by me about 10 days after the cessation of hostilities in early March 1991. Not much to say. Pretty gruesome.
