Wuerzburg - Riyadh - Kuwait City

What Is This Site?:  Welcome!  Here you have a selection of photos that document the deployment of the 123rd Medical Detachment (DS) to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm.  The 123rd was one of 3 Europe based dental HA units deployed to Saudi Arabia to support the war effort.  When Desert Shield was initiated in 1990, the 123rd was based in Wuerzburg, Germany.  The HQ and admin sections were co-located with the DENTAC in the 67th Evac Hospital and operated 9 dental clinics.

Why Have This Site?:  In the past, I have searched for the 123rd Med Det on the internet.  Notably without success.  Since many of these photos have been posted on my "Desktop Gallery" website, I get occasional postings from visitors asking to see more of my DS/DS pictures.  So, I decided to scan a few more and create a dedicated site on the 123rd's deployment.  Kind of strange, I figured that by now (2002) someone from the unit would have done this.  Since I have only so many pix on this subject, the site will not be updated unless others have content for me to add.  If you have pictures, corrections or comments, let me know.  RR.

All pics shot with an Olympus OM-1, Pentax SF-1 or a Kodak DX-3600 2.1digital Camera.  Most printing was done on a Durst color head with prints up to 20X24" (Noted if not printed by me).  All non-digital prints scanned with a Microtek Scanmaker X6 USB flatbed.  PC Used is an Athlon XP 2400+ running at 2600+ in an ECS K7S5A PRO mobo.  This site best viewed at 800x600.  The first version of this page was written with Netscape Gold 3.01 (YEAH!).  I stayed with Netscape up to v4.61. Accepting reality I switched over to M$IE and Frontpage 2002.  As to M$ having removing Java support in XP, well I will continue to use it long as I possibly can.  Rant over.  Greetz go out to:  Kurt Vogel of Theilheim, Germany for being one hell of an instructor and Rube Lancaster of KY for pushing me into color printing (You shall never be my equal, Boy).  To Elena M, in PR. and to Edwin Thillet (ET), in Lawton OK, for no reason.    To the memory of Rocci R, in Seattle.  :-(

NOTE: THIS SITE IS OPTIMIZED FOR M$ INTERNET EXPLORER 5.0 OR HIGHER!!
