Here is a pic of the body
work that I had done on the cab. Although the cab was rust-free, it was
not dent-free! There were dents on both of the rear cab pillars. (if you
look in the background, you can see my hood on saw horses, ready for someone
to work on it!!)
| Remember those holes on the rear
of my cab... well, they were welded shut and the body turned out remarkable
on them! |
| |
The guy that did my body work
has been in the business for over ten years. He told me that in all of
his experience, he has NEVER done body work on the inside of a vehicle.
Well I just couldn't live w/ random holes drilled in my dash, so they
were taken care of!

The work on the cab is done. So,
I've turned my attention to the front clip; beginning with the hood. |
| Stripping down the hood took about
5 hours with an air sander using 80 grit paper: you just have to be careful
around the body lines!! |
After working for 6 weeks on my
cab to get from bare metal to primer, its is really rewarding to complete
a body panel like this from start to finish in a weekend! :-) |
Back to the cab again... we
tipped the cab back up on end, so that I could scuff the bottom to prepare
it for paint.
A few moments later, the paint/clear
was on!! I am using PPG's Omni brand paint; Indigo Blue Metallic :-)
After letting the cab dry
for a couple of days, I got some help and we put it back on end. The bottom
was masked and the firewall, inside, and door jams were all painted.
I fought long and hard to
get a realistic picture of the color... but it didn't really come out.
This is a pic when the sun was shinning through the window; it looked
awesome in person, but my camera just wouldn't cooperate for some reason...
| |
Here it is! Finally, a picture
that cooperated! Its now lookin' like a truck again!! :-)

After much research and thinking,
I went ahead and bought a set of dynomax ceramic coated headers. I figured
before I put on my fenders and inner fenders, it would be easier to put
the headers on now...

With the new headers on, I
adjusted my wire looms ahead to where they should be. I also put on my
"bowtie" chevy valve cover t-handles :-)
With the wires now in place
and the headers on... I'm basically finished detailing the engine; all
I have left to do is put on new hoses and a couple of belts.
