Here is the cab after all the
interior has been removed. It is virtually one piece: no glass, no wiring,
no column... just the cab and a couple of pedals.
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Here, I've started the unending
chore of body work. the cab has basically stripped of paint, but a little
sanding is needed. Hopefully primer will come into the equation soon.

Well, I got my engine block from having the work done on it. For the time being, I am using my old valve covers while I re-paint my block.
| After putting in new pushrods and a new cam, I put on a new polished aluminum timing chain cover. |

Things really took shape here. I finally got my gas tank on... and the engine and transmission are in the frame.
| Although these frame pictures are compressed, you really outta click on them for a high resolution image :-) |

Things really took shape in the midst of an afternoon. The intake, carb, and, headers are all installed. I'm keeping my old valve covers and air cleaner on until after we fire the engine up and tune the values.
| A closer view of things... Seems like it really wasn't worth it to get a polished aluminum timing chain cover... where is it!? ;-) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

ITS ALIVE!!! As a temporary setup, the radiator/front clip is set on the frame. Using a small gas can and a simple wiring harness, we fired the engine for the first time... oh, if you could only hear it! :-)
| Here is a closer view of the temporary setup. As you can see, the fuel pump is bolted to the frame rail; I used my old radiator hoses; and there's basically a general mess of random wires! |

| For right now, there's not much more I can do mechanically. So, I've turned my attention to the body work. Here's a shot of the driver's rocker panel... which is remarkable! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Most of the paint on my cab was removed with liquid stipper (Tal Strip). I began sanding with an air sander... which made things go very quick. However, in places like this door jam, I had to use a lot of elbow grease to get it sanded down. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I'm running out of paint to stip off! This shot is taken after I used 80 Grit sand paper. I'll just need a shot of 180 and hopefully then epoxy primer! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After borrowing an air sander, paint was flying off very quickly. However, there are limits to air sanding: mainly the tight places... like these ridges on the back side of the cab. |
