Until I get my new cab and my engine block back, I'm focusing some attention on my headers. The headers are Hooker Competition headers that were originally hot coated...Although they look alright in this picture, they are not.
| If you take a look here, you can see that the hot coating has come off in some places, but not all. They have been sand blasted, glass beaded; they've had liquid paint stripper on them... nothing will remove the coating, so instead of trashing a good set of headers, I'm going to take my chances with some high temp paint. |

After a few days of tal-strip,
several razor blades, and sand paper, I got my passenger fender down to
the bare metal. Now... just the drivers side :-)
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Well... my cab problems have been solved! I managed to pick up a beautiful, rock solid cab from the south. The cab came to me from Iowa, and it has some literature in it from Texas, including an inspection sticker; so its a good solid piece. check out these pics! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Well, as you can see, the cab is all there. I bought the entire deal. It was basically just unbolted from the truck (an '84 GMC) and given to me. All the stuff is still on the firewall and the interior is 99% complete. There will have to be some minor modifications for it to bolt up, but its fairly minor.
| Both doors on the cab are original GM metal. The passenger side is almost perfect, while the driver's side has some dings in it. It almost looks like someone opened it way to far. It shouldn't take too much to get it back in shape! |

In the rear of the cab, a really wierd set of drilled holes exists. Look at the third indent from the left, where they begin. There are five holes that were drilled for some odd reason...
| Aside from being SUPER dirty, the interior is all there. A few bonuses did pop up while going through the interior! A couple allen wreches, a racket strap, and of course the 22 cents that I found! :-) I am happy that the tilt column was in there... and with working keys! |

After a couple minutes of wrenching... the seat came out to reveal one crazy mess!
| After removing the carpet and the insulation, what is revealed is a beautiful, untouched original cab floor. |

This trend continues throughout the entire cab. In the passenger side footwell, the last piece of heating/cooling ducting is waiting to be disconnected and removed.
| If you click on this picture, you can really see how much of the firewall has been stripped. The A/C box, 90% of the wiring, the cowling panel, and windshield wiper motor have all been removed, leaving a lonely master cylinder and brake booster. Not for long :-) |

Although this picture looks very similar, a lot of work has been done. The windshield has been removed, and the brake booster/master cylinder, as well as a ton of inside electrical wiring and the heater ducting.
| After removing the doors, I'm almost out of things to remove :-) |

I'm now turning my attention to the paint. As you can see, its coming off very easily. The paint on the truck is original and its relatively easy to find the bare metal underneath!
