| Well, after installing bearings in the engine, I was in the process of putting the engine and transmission back together when I broke the crank bolt off attempting to turn the engine over to get the torque converter bolts to line up. Nothing a drill and a tap won't fix, I hope... |

After much waiting, and despite
the broken bolt, I found time to get the engine block and transmission
ready to paint. The transmission has been totally stripped of all paint,
and the engine block will be painted over the existing paint.

| After TONS of masking and taping off, its finally ready! (I got a really unique look at the Chevy dealer when I went in and asked for a "used oil filter for a 350 engine." At which point, I had to explain my engine block painting project! |

Well, here it is so far. More red than before. You can see the blue filter that I got from the dealer :-)
| And the tranny looks a little different as well. (click on the picture, it looks great!) |

Since that combination looked so nice, I had to tear it all apart because the engine was very difficult to turn over after we installed the bearings... Up on the engine stand again, only to discover a broken bearing cap. So, now the engine must be tore down and the block line boared.

To avoid stalls in the project,
I decided to start on the cab... I spent the better part of the day stripping
paint off the roof, only to be told that the cab is NOT worth working
on... check out the following pics, they tell a sad, sad story :-( ...

If you click on the pic for a closer view, you can see that both floor pans were replaced at one time. The job did not stand the test of time.
| And even more, both cab corners and rockers were replaced at one time. Now, the underneath of the cab is very soft on both sides. |

Same story on this side...
| Well, the search for a "Restorable" cab is on! So, I'm now turning my attention to my doors and fenders. |

One down, one to go! I'm stripping the paint with Tal-Strip... it works extremely well in very little time.
| We finally got around to the engine that needs to have the crank line boared. Didn't take all that long to have it tore down to nothing... | ![]() |

So much for a good paint job :-)
