Journey into the 60's for high fashion and glamorous fun!
| 1960 brought a "new look" to Barbie. Her image was softened and she became more realistic. While Barbie Number One and Two had very strong facial features, Number Three Barbie had softer features, including "new" blue irises and curved brows rather than the v-shaped of the earlier doll. They now have a sweet and innocent look. The 1960 Number Three however, tends to fade to a pale shade. It is hard to find these dolls still with their original "pink" skintone. Later in the year, the vinyl was perfected, allowing the dolls to retain a tan skintone. This Barbie is Number Four. The most beautiful are the dolls with large red lips, coined "Lucy Lips" after Lucille Ball. |

| The Number Three Barbie (above) has brown or blue eyeliner, with the brown being the most common. My favorite is the high color face with bright red or orange lips with matching cheek blush. Barbie Number Three and Four (right) are all original with high color faces and original hair wraps. |

| Cases became popular in the early 1960's. My favorite is the "Barbie goes Travelin" case which sports a little red car with clear vinyl window on one side and an airplane on the other. | ![]() |
