"Official" Shugogetten pages
- Toei Animation has a Shugogetten page here which has episode guides, story synopses, news, and other "official" information. Japanese only
- The official home of Shounen Gangan is now online! This is the monthy magazine that features Mamotte Shugogetten and you can preview the next issue's lineup, view illustrations by the manga artists and more. Be sure to visit the Getten page in the "GanGan LineUp" for some original CG by Sakurano Minene-sensei! You can jump directly to the Getten lineup page here. There's also some nice CG illustrations done by Sakurano-sensei here for your viewing pleasure.
- Enix has a company homepage on the web but there isn't any information there about Shugogetten specifically. The "books" listing does list ISBN numbers for some Shugogetten books. Interesting information on Enix as a company (in English). The rest of the pages are in Japanese.
Fan-subtitling Information
Here are a few websites for information on obtaining "fansub" episodes of Mamotte Shugogetten.
- Groupe Virelai is a fan group that's translating and subtitling Shugogetten as their very first project. They've released 2 tapes (6 episodes) and going strong. I've seen their work and I must say I'm impressed! It's a very good translation, especially considering the difficulties that this particular series poses in translating (some of the set phrases are Chinese, Rishu's got a cute but difficult to translate speech impediment, you know, stuff that would make a fansub group pull their hair out.) Be sure to check out their site and say "Thanks!" for supporting your favorite anime series!
- Karinkuru Anime is a fansubbing project currently subtitling Mamotte Shugogetten as well. So far they've released 1 tape (4 episodes) with more in the works. They've done an excellent job, please be sure to check them out! Matthew also has a very good introduction on "How to Fansub" for those interested in the process.
- Fushigi Anime is a fan-subtitling group that's working on a translation of the TV show. They've finished the first volume (2 episodes).
- Wasabi Anime also has a page on Shugogetten (with a nice intro to the series, by the way) but I don't think they've released a tape so far.
- Sachi's Distribution is a fansub distribution service where you can obtain Groupe Virelai's works.
English Fan Pages
Thankfully, as the series gets more popular, there are more English fansites to visit. I've added a few of the more notable sites here, but as always, if you have a Getten page, and you want it listed here, please drop me an email and let me know!
- There is a Yahoo Club called Club Rishu that's a great place to meet and talk with other Shugogetten fans! Be sure to join the group!
- Pink Bun Buns is a very pretty site dedicated to Shugogetten. There's a lot of good info and some well done HTML. (I'm jealous! :)
- Shao-Line is another interesting fan site with a lot of good information. There are also links here to download episodes of the anime, as well as links to a lot of music from the series.
- Katie-chan's Spirit Of A Star page is a small fan page devoted to the diminutive Rishu in all her pink-haired glory.
- Saa is another nice fansite, very well done and easy to navigate.
- The Mamotte Shugogetten Information Resource Centre is a small site (but growing) and has links to a number of MIDI files of music from the series.
- Ai imamotte has a lot of images and music to browse.
- As always, be sure to check out the Anime Web Turnpike for more links. It's an excellent source of information on just about anything to do with anime or manga or related topics.
Japanese Fan Pages
Even if you can't read Japanese there's still a number of interesting sites for pictures, sound files, and CG (computer generated) fan-art.
- The Shugogetten Fan Club is where you can register yourself as a fan of the show (I'm #161). There are also more links, a CG gallery, and the usual other neat things.
- Takuchan's excellent Shaoring site has lots of good information as well as fanart and fan fiction!
- Izumi Mizujima (水島いずみさん) has an excellent Getten fan page at http://www13.big.or.jp/~multi/getten/index.html. There is an "A to Z" (well, "A to WA") dictionary of just about everything that's ever appeared in the show.
- Shigi Himematsu's (姫松しぎさんの) home page also has a lot of Getten CG images and an excellent links page.
- Ken'ichi Sasaki (佐々木健一さん) has an excellent page Anime Index with information on Getten, Nadesico, and the new Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime.
- Getten Shourai (月天召来) has more illustrations, links, and some profile information on Sakurano Minene.
- If you want to search for more web sites in Japanese, this search key on the Goo Search Engine will search for "Mamotte Shugogetten" (in Japanese).
Where to Buy Stuff
Here are some good links for Shugogetten merchandise, videos, and CDs. I have not done business with all of these places, but the ones listed here are places that either I have dealt with personally or they come recommended to me by people who's opinions I value:
- US Anime is a good source for smaller items, paper goods, and posters.
- Animaxis (formerly J-Dream) is another good source for goods and the like. The are even carrying the individual manga volumes are very good prices!
- CD Japan is a great source for CDs, Laserdiscs, and DVDs from Japan at good prices, and they'll special order!
- House of Anime is a good (but a little pricey) source for some harder to find items -- they have several of the hand-painted reproduction cels for sale.
Seiyuu links
Here are some good links to information on Japanese voice actors (seiyuu):
- Hitoshi Doi has probably the most comprehensive English-language seiyuu database on the net.
- IIJ Internet has a seiyuu database available as well. This is a VERY comprehensive database of actors and roles.
In the "Search" field, type the name (in romaji) for the actor you want to find, last name first and no spaces.
Examples: KoudaMariko, SakuraiTomo, HayashibaraMegumi, ArakiKae (capitalization doesn't matter).
Other Links of Interest
- Frankie Torikago's wonderful CanCanBunny and WinAmp Skins page has a collection of gorgeous WinAmp "skins" including several for Mamotte Shugogetten. Definitely check out his work!
- Neko Han-Ten's home page is a great resource! There are romanized titles to many popular anime CDs as well as catalog numbers, and a nice section of anime synopses for quite a few new anime series.
- The Anime Music MP3 Box in Korea is a very good source for music from Mamotte Shugogetten, and lots of other anime series! A very nice site.
- Cukicuki's Home Page is another Korean page that offers some nice icons, backgrounds, and other web page goodies, including some nice Getten icons. Even if you can't read Korean (I can't) you can still navigate the pages and there's a quite a bit to see!
- Gilbert Wong's Jingoro's Corner on the Web is a great site with links to a number of FAQs about popular anime series, a fanfiction archive, and an intimidating list of Anime CDs :-)
- The Utena Encyclopedia (formerly "The Arena of Revolutionists") is a site devoted to the series Shoujo Kakumei Utena
(少女革命ウテナ) but I include it here because it's an excellent example of what a web site should be. Anything you want to know about Utena is here and easy to find.
- The NBI Cel Gallery is the on-line gallery of cels in my personal collection, including some Shugogetten reproduction cels.
- BraveNet is my new page-counter of choice, they offer handy web page tools like the counter on the index page as well as site statistics and other great services like mail forms, bulletin boards, and tons of cool stuff for web page designers. Their counters can be small and unobtrusive, which is a Good Thing.
