Missy's Gymnastics Power Tumbling Team traveled to Hampton Roads VA in July to compete at the 2006 AAU Junior Olympics. Connie Woodcock took 9 of her 35 member Power Tumbling Team to this prestigious event.

 

Pictured are left to right: Lee Helton 2 gold medal (Double-Mini & trampoline)& 1 silver medal in Tumbling an association award for Trampoline & an All American Award. Lee was the only athlete from the State of KY to receive this award, Keyla Coomer 3rd  Floor, 8th  Double Mini & 6th  trampoline, Elizabeth Valdez 4th  floor, 3rd  double Mini, 3rd  Trampoline And an association award for Trampoline, Cierra Coomer Gold 1st on double Mini, 2nd  on Floor, Makayela Banks 1st  on Floor, 1st  on Double Mini, 2nd  on trampoline And a association award on Double Mini. Livie Ulrich took 2nd place on all 3 events, Marissa Acton placed 2nd  on the floor, Katie Ulrich took 2nd  on Floor & Trampoline , 3rd  on Double Mini and an association Award for Tumbling. Edward Coomer Took 3rd on Double Mini & Trampoline & 4th  in tumbling. 

 

All total Team Missy's  had 4 Gold Placements, 10 silver placements, 4 bronze placements 3 association awards and an All American Award.

 

Power Tumblers recognized at KY AAU Annual Dinner

 

Four power tumblers from Missy’s Gymnastics were recognized Sunday at the 2006 State AAU Annual Awards Dinner held at the Executive Inn East in Louisville KY.  The annual event recognizes athletes who received gold medals at the 2006 AAU Junior Olympics which were held this year in Hampton Roads VA . Athletes are also recognized for outstanding performances even though they may not have won a gold medal. Missy’s had three AAU Jr. Olympic Champions this year. Cierra Coomer won the gold medal for the 4 and under beginner double-mini trampoline.  Makayela Banks won gold medals for 8 year old intermediate double-mini and 8 year old sub-novice tumbling.  Lee Helton won gold medals for 12 year old advanced double-mini and 12 year old sub-advanced trampoline.  Marissa Acton won an Outstanding Performance Award.  Missy’s had nine athletes on Kentucky’s Power Tumbling Team that competed in Hampton Roads. Makayela  Banks, Lee Helton. Katie Ulrich & Elizabeth Valdez each received an association award and contributed to the State being the 2nd overall Team at the Jr Olympics. In addition to his 2 gold medals and an association award Lee Helton also won an All American Award. He was the only athlete in the State of Ky to received this prestigious award. All members of Team Missy’s that competed at the 2006 Junior Olympics are: Marissa Acton, Makayela Banks, Cierra Coomer, Edward Coomer, Keyla Coomer, Lee Helton, Katie Ulrich, Olivia Ulrich and Elizabeth Valdez.
