Please be patient, I'm learning html by the hunt and peck method . I still have a lot of reformatting to fix in the manual but here it is... I'll be fixing it as often as I can.

No man is an island , many people have contributed to the production of this work.  My wife, Sandra has patiently aided in innumerable ways, encouraging, allowing my tantrums and supporting in the background.  Dr. Ken Kerri has provided the framework for me to build upon.  Jon Henderson gave the incentive.  Aristotle Archer stimulated the desire.  Jerry Jivens reviewed and corrected many errors.  Bill Gerber added insight to concepts.  Charles Hardeman supported my effort.  Joel Gordon stimulated much rewrite after his thorough review.  Wanda Ledford contributed material.  Perry Brake updated and amplified whole sections. Thel Frost asked me to embark in this direction (I cherish my memory of him).

My thanks goes to all these mentioned and to all those I have not mentioned:  my apologies.

           Field Training Manual for

              Laboratory Analysts

                 June 1994

                 Revised September 1994

                 Revised November 1995

                 Revised April 9, 1999

Purpose, Goal, Scope

I have attempted this rewrite of the GWWI manual with much help from many people and sources.  My hope is to provide more than enough information for the reader to gain certification from the State of Georgia and to do a great job.  I have discovered that by trying to share my knowledge and experience with others is the best way for me to gain and learn new concepts and ideas.  Learning by doing works for me.  Dialog and conversation with others stimulates the search for and discovery of new understanding.  Dr. Kerri and Mr. Jon Henderson have allowed me to use their manuals in the making of this manual.

I have diligently endeavored to eliminate all errors from this manual.  I feel strongly that any training manual must be as perfect as possible to teach the student the correct fact the first time.  However, I am not perfect and some errors will slip in.  In that event, when you, the reader, find that error, I really want to know.  Even insignificant mistakes can distract the learning process, please let me know when you find one. I invite, encourage your suggestions and/or improvements.

Please write, call or e-mail.
