Biscuit & Gravy Bond
About two weeks after surgery, I decided to let them meet face-to-face with no barriers. This session was very short. Biscuit was only interested in humping and Gravy wanted no part of it. They didn't fight, so at least that was a good sign.
I waited another week to give Biscuit's hormones time to dissolve, and tried it again. Instead of taking them to a new room, I simply took the fence down between their playpens and sat inside with them. This session went very well and there was no aggression from either of them. I had the next day off work so I let them in their undivided playpen together and watched. Gravy didn't really want Biscuit sniffing her, but she would just hop away a few feet, or make a circle and come back and sniff him. He didn't mind any of this, even when she would crawl over him.
Over the next few days I let them spend all of their time out of their cages together and still saw no signs of aggression, so I felt safe putting them in the same cage. I needed a big one, so I had to build it myself using WalMart's and Target's versions of the Neat Idea Cubes. Here's a picture of their 3-story condo:
Since this picture was taken, I've added another little cubby hole to the very top, so they actually have a 4-story condo with an attached playpen. I also discovered how to make the playpen fence higher, so they almost never have to be locked in their cage now.
