It is possibly important to remind the reader that some cosmological theorists estimate there to be many dimensions beyond three in our own cosmos. There are those whose estimates run as high as 20 or more. It has even been speculated that there can be no limit put upon the number of dimensions surrounding us. But, many ask, how could this be, without our having some awareness of the phenomena. Actually such a cosmos would probably be more likely than one of only three dimensions. Science says the Big Bang started it all and all indications which we can observe seem to agree. However such a beginning need not have just created energy leading to the formation of three dimensional mass. Physicists are already playing around with theories about other type stuff which might have been created; stuff which is beyond the observation and ability of us laymen to comprehend. Other dimensions are a very strong possibility, or even probability. But what of universes of other numbers of dimensions? The idea is just as probable. We could not even be aware of other three dimensional universes existing in our midst, let alone universes of other dimensions. At this point many would say they might go along with everything up to this point, but to not be aware of other three dimensional universes right in our midst stretches the imagination too much. So let's try to explain how this might happen. Let us use a two dimensional universe as an example since it is easier to work with. Let us say there are two, two dimensional universes. One is horizontal and the other is vertical right through it. Of course they have no knowledge of horizontal or vertical since they know nothing of height consisting of up and down. They only know forward and back and left and right. So, as we said, one of these two universes passes vertically right through the other, like so-- +. A person walking left to right in the horizontal universe approaches the universe slicing through his own. What happens when he reaches that point? Nothing happens. If he was able to detect the existence of the vertical universe that would imply depth or height, or three dimensions, in the vertical universe. That vertical universe consists of forward and back and up and down, but no depth or height. So the creatures of each universe would continuously pass right through each other without ever being aware of their interaction. What is true for one universe is true for all, as long as the laws of physics apply the same to all. That means there could be another three dimensional universe operating right where we are, and we would not, could not, be aware. There could be an infinite number of varying dimensional universes where we are, but we would have no knowledge. You ask, "How could there be such a system?" Because, there is nothing known to limit expanding space's ability to hold varying dimensional universes. Space, as far as we know, is capable of holding any number of universes of any number of dimensions. Therefore, a universe expanding into the beyond is subject to be bent into any number of dimensions higher than the mass which makes up that particular universe. But the creatures of that universe would only be able to detect mass bent in one of the dimensions ...... continued on next page Previous Page <-> Next Page |
