IMPORTANT CALENDAR INFORMATION: Since my web site exists to promote the use of CW on the ham bands, my calendar lists only contests that involve CW operation. You'll not find any SSB-only, PSK-only, etc. contests listed here. Each monthly page is updated at the beginning of the previous month. For example, the info for September contests is updated around August 1st. To view the contests for a certain month, select the month from the left column. Contest names, in most cases, are direct links to contest rules. However, many contest sites are now extremely complex using pages with Java, PHP, ASP, etc. and it is almost impossible to link directly to their rules pages so you may have to do a bit of searching on the contest site to find the actual rules. A yellow ball ( It seems to me that more and more contests are becoming lax in updating their web site rules or constantly changing their rules URL's which makes it more and more difficult for me to maintain an accurate calendar. So beginning with the January 2006 calendar I am implementing a rating system as to the accuracy of the rules link info as follows: +++++ The rules mention a specific date and year. ++++= The rules do not mention a year, but I'm almost certain the dates are accurate. +++== The rules say something like the 3rd Saturday of a month, but no specific year is mentioned. ++=== The rules say something like a 3rd weekend which can be ambiguous when a month starts on a Sunday. +==== Current posted rules are a few years old, and I am pretty much just guessing at the dates. The contest may not even exist any longer. Basically a +++++ rating means you can count on the accuracy, and as the number of +'s decline, so does the accuracy. A +==== deserves further research on your part before making serious plans. The letters in the QRP column of the calendars have the following meanings: A - the contest has a QRP entry category B - the contest has a bonus multiplier or bonus points for QRP operation C - a QRP contest N - the contest does nothing for the QRP operator or the info is unknown. |
