PIG (WILD)         PORCUPINE
PENGUIN
--STRENGTH UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS--

If Penguin waddles into your life, you are reminded to live with the conditions you chose for this life.

As the spirit you are, you chose the conditions and environment, into which to be born, in order to
learn lessons which will advance you along your spiritual path.

Penguin chose as His environment what are, to humans, some of the harshest conditions on this planet.
Yet, Penguin is perfectly natural and thrives in those conditions.

You are being reminded that you chose the conditions, environment and circumstances for this visit on
the physical plane.

You may have been tempted to rile at your parents and the world, "I didn't ask to be born!".

Penguin has appeared to remind you "Ohh, to the contrary!!! Yes, you DID ask. AND you got what
you asked for! AND you might try to remember the life goals you set for yourself, instead of bitching
at everyone around you for YOUR circumstances."
(See God, Beings, Spirits and Entities
for a more detailed explanation of spirit choices.)

Life continues to present you lessons of your choosing. As long as your spirit exists, it will be learning,
whether on the physical or spiritual plane.

Penguin may be here to prepare you for a next, soon-to-arrive, trying lesson.

Know that, just as Penguin persists in His circumstances, your spirit will endure in yours.

But, even better, know that Penguin is telling you that you don't have to "just endure". Penguin enjoys
the life He has chosen - you can enjoy yours, too.

Penguin tells you to see your life as an adventure to experience, rather than as a burden to bear.

Porcupine brings a message to return to innocence - trust, faith, humility. Porcupine reminds you that the Great Spirit has a plan, and you are part of it. Trust that He will guide you. Be humble even when you recognize what He is doing for you, no matter how joyous you may be when you feel His touch on your life. Remember that you are not the only creature He is doing this for.

If Porcupine gets you to open this place of faith, trust and humility in your space, you have room for others to come, where they will be comfortable to open their faith, trust and humility. You may be surprised by the love that will flow into your life as a result.

While Porcupine is gentle, loving and caring, she has a surprise for those who break her trust - the quills. She teaches that it is okay to defend yourself.

Watching a young Porcupine, you will find complete curiosity. The trusting curiosity of youth should be yours as you go through your day, learning new lessons.
There is a tale of Porcupine's encounter with Bear --
Porcupine was playing around and inside of an old log, just having the time of her life.
    Bear approached, looking for honey.
"Hello, Bear. Would you like to play with me and this wonderful log I have found!"
Old Bear growled, "Porcupine, I'm too old to play, can't you see? Out of my way! I'm looking for honey. Leave me alone!"
"Bear, you are never too old to play:" she replied. "Have you forgotten what it was like to be a cub? Have you always been as gruff as this?"
Bear began to think about what Porcupine had said. She might be right. All the other creatures ran frightened from Bear. Other Bears avoided him when he growled. Porcupine trusted him not to eat her, and even offered him friendship.
The old Bear remembered the games he played as a cub. A smile curled his lips and he felt a long-forgotten warmth inside.
"Porcupine, you remind me that in becoming strong and seeking answers, I got lost in the pursuit of intelligence. I was concerned about how others would see me if I weren't so gruff. I was afraid they wouldn't take me seriously anymore. You remind me that my grouchiness has caused others to want not to be around me. Thank you. I'd love to play with you and this old log."
And so it was that Bear became childlike again and learned the innocence of Porcupine.

Porcupine reminds you not to become lost in a world of fear, greed, and suffering. Porcupine reminds you to loosen up, recall your fantasies and unleash your imagination.

There is room enough for all to share in the winning...

Porcupine could also be reminding you of some slight or hurt you feel someone has caused you. You have lost trust in that person or, worse, in all people, because of what you remember happening to you. How surprised you might be if, while hanging onto this hurt, years later you discover that, not only was it not done on purpose, the other person does not even remember who you are. Is that a waste of all the years you have spent hoping the other person regrets making you feel bad?
