HAWK
--MESSENGER OF GODS--

      When Hawk visits, you are receiving a message from the gods. Look around and inside yourself for what this message might be - when Hawk arrived, what were you doing, thinking, seeing? Had you just spoken, then heard Hawk's screee? Did you place less conscious significance on events than they deserved? Hawk reminds you to watch for life-sent signs. While in this body, you may be unaware of the true nature of your spirit - but you are not totally blind to it. Are you seeing the powers around and in you? When you see those powers, do you remember that they are yours to use?
      Hawk's warnings for some are tidings for others. Hawk's message is to listen, observe and learn - to open your eyes, to look around, to broaden your view, to be aware of omens and messages from the spirit.
      Hawk may also be telling you to soar above yourself, to look on your life to see what others see in and around you. You may be surprised to discover fears, self-imposed limitations and boundaries you have set for yourself. Removing these limitations allows you to spring more freely to flights of creation.
      If Hawk gives you messages for other, your task to deliver is a privilege. As such, messages for others are to be delivered, not interpreted. Hawk teaches to be open to messages, but not to try to think for others. Hawk reminds us that all gifts are equal in the eyes of the Great Spirit.

HORSE
--POWER--

      The other day on the news there was an article about five men who were stealing cars, faking registrations through DMV (two of the men were DMV employees) and actually keeping what they had stolen.
      Someone asked me how they could possibly think they could get away with it. Horse came to mind - "Steal a horse and you steal a man's power." Horse is power... (no, no jokes about "horsepower", though it is hardly surprising the work a horse can do has become a unit of measure for power).
      Horse is considered power on the physical and spirit planes. In many cultures, the shaman rides a horse to reach the other side for the information needed in the particular activity in which the shaman is engaged. Man balanced on Horse's back is Man balanced in Nature using power with a balance of wisdom, humor, and knowledge.
      It is interesting that Horse might be considered "to blame" for the breakdown of family groups. Through Horse man began to travel greater distances between sunrise and sunset. No longer was it necessary to remain close by to maintain family contact. In societies where the horse was widely introduced, the power of the family was traded for the power of the horse. But Horse has also made it possible to get back to the family, no matter how distant. Is you family energy balanced?
      Horse enters our lives to remind us of balance in power. Technology is no cure-all. Power used to suppress another is power abused. The joy of riding Horse to various places to gather information, experience and knowledge, then coming home to the barn, to share for the benefit of all is another of Horse's powers.

--JOY--

      Hummingbird visits you to remind you to love and to be joyous in your life. Be ready for the joy of life to open, expect something good to show up soon, even if it is just a thought or idea.
      Hummingbird also warns you that you have done something unfeeling to someone else, or abused yourself by missing the love and joy in a situation She brought to you. She suggests that you take another look at the way you are treating those around you, and change your actions if they don't bring you and others joy.
