EARLY HANGING CUPBOARD IN ORIGINAL
RED PAINTED DECORATION. An early 1800s, New York State, hanging cupboard of
softwood, with two paneled doors opening to reveal 3 shelves. This early piece
retains its original untouched dry, attic-surface red paint with decoration
brush-incised on the door panels while it was still wet.

NEW YORK STATE COUNTRY TALL CLOCK
IN CHERRY WOOD. New York State circa early 19th C, with original 30
hour wooden movement, hand painted dial and pewter hands, complete with tin can
weights and pendulum. Bought privately this week form a central NY State
collector, this clock was found in a house 35 years ago in Cattaraugus, NY and
has never been offered for sale since. It
retains an outstanding state of preservation with an excellent untouched
surface. 83 ¼” high x 11” deep
x 20 ¼” wide max.

NEW HAMPSHIRE PAINT DECORATED HANGING CUPBOARD
WITH BLUE WALLPAPER. An early New England high-country hanging cupboard, made of
basswood and retaining its original feather-grained flame painted decoration all
around including the interior doors. Also on the interior, is original
blue hand-blocked wallpaper of the period. Chamfered wide-board back reveals, in
pencil, the date 1823. Nice molded projecting cornice, brass keeper latches,
wooden knobs and original cast butt hinges. Actual case measures 35"
x 9" deep, and molding is 38 3/4" x 10 3/4".

PENNSYLVANIA PAINT DECORATED CORNER CUPBOARD. Hanover, York
County, PA attributed to Rupp family*, circa 1840. Two piece, softwood, in
original red and umber feather decoration, the top section with a pair of arched
8-light doors flanked by acorn-ended half columns, over three dovetailed
drawers, over two paneled cupboard doors, all sitting on turned ball feet. The
interior painted a blue gray over soldier blue, with scallop shaped shelves and
spoon notches. 84" high (7') x 36" corner (54" across
face).

*From a house near Hanover, York County, PA, this beautiful 1840's cupboard
is in the hallmark form and original painted decoration of John Rupp (b. 1801),
local York County cabinetmaker and decorator of the 1830s-1870 period. In
fact, the cupboard contained deeds and documents indicating that it descended
directly in the Rupp Family. All is original save for quality brass rosette knob
replacements.

12-LIGHT 2-PART CORNER CUPBOARD. Circa
1830, Ohio origin, cherry wood in older refinish with nice color.
The top section with an overhanging cornice over a pair of doors
with six panes of good glass each, over three waist-height drawers over a
pair of paneled doors, resting on turned feet.
Original brasses and hardware. 89” high, takes an approx 34”
corner, 37” including cornice, and approx 50” face width.

EXUBERANTLY
PAINTED PENNSYLVANIA SOFTWOOD CORNER CUPBOARD in original paint decoration, two-piece, with a single
12-pane door over two paneled doors.
Measures 82” high with an approx. 47” face width (takes a 35”
corner counting the 3” projecting cornice). Painted decoration is folk
rendition of crotch burls and tiger stripe pattern, in vivid red-oranges.
Excellent untouched original condition and integrity. Dauphin County, PA
circa 1840.
