One our our most important desires is to "reach the youth of our community so they will be strong and alive in knowing Christ and excited to make him known."
We have and continue to be blessed with a great group of young people involved in our active youth program. We emphasize working with youth to help them find ways to explore and experience their faith as a normal and everyday part of their lives, encouraging them to recognize and reach out to the world in need around them.
With the terrific support of our congregation and our community in both time and money, we have reached out to community youth through activities and events which we believe are crucial to their well-being and development.
Some highlights of our recent activities include:
—Summer mission work trips to Pearlington, MS for hurricane relief; to Robins, TN for home building; and to Valentine, NE to support its "CAN-DO" paint projects. This year we traveled to the Sioux Indian Reservation Habitat for Humanity project in Eagle Butte, SD the week of July 19 - 26. See our story here.
—This Spring we held a 30-Hour lock in and adopted a 4-year-old Ugandan girl, Dennise Nakawunde, whom we will support with our loose change.
—We have put together care packages for our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
—We held our annual Thanksgiving Dinner basket drive last November and plan another this year.
—We serve meals at local shelters.
—We attend Christian concerts, Omaha Royals baseball games, ski at Mt. Crescent and take trips to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City.
—In June we held a very successful car wash to raise money for our mission trip. Members
of the community and the congregation are always eager to support our projects. We held a Pasta Feed in July; stay tuned
for pictures of that event.

Each year we sponsor and Easter Sunrise Service and breakfast fundraiser.
We use an updated senior high Sunday School curriculum in a Christian discussion setting to deal with real world issues facing our teens. Topics we have covered include drugs, sex, peer pressure, family relationships, time management, and personal responsibility. As part of this study a local DEA representative provided a youth-only and parents-only drug education seminar at our church as well as a tour of the local DEA facilities.
Our Youth Fellowship Hall, in the CE wing of the church, is complete with couches, a stereo system, big-screen TV, refrigerator, pool table, ping pong table, and many games. The room is open regularly on Wednesday evenings for the community Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings and on select weekends for our youth group activities. You are invited, as well. Please feel free to stop by with friends and make yourself at home!
