Mission Outreach

The Mission and Evangelism committee from the session emphasis has been on youth mission projects and trips for the last few years.  This has included providing food baskets at Thanksgiving for those less fortunate, yearly mission trips including an ongoing relationship with the town of Pearlington, MS. They have also been providing opportunities for social activities for the youth of our community with various activities both at the church and other locations.  The committee has also sponsored the Shoebox Campaign at Christmastime through Samaritan's Purse for approximately 300 boxes being sent overseas to children.

The committee has recently decided to focus on the evangelism portion of their duties and will be implementing some new ideas and plans for more outreach in the Plattsmouth community.

On Saturday, August 8, Kirsten Wood went with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance group (which is supported by One Great Hour of Sharing funds) to clean up and repair homes in Cedar Rapids that were damaged in the worst flood to hit Iowa in 15 years.

Accommodations weren’t the most luxurious but the company was energetic and resourceful. With a lot of determination they faced mold and muck as well as a lot of trash to help get one family on the road to recovery.

The committee is always looking for volunteers amd new ideas for projects. Please contact Kirsten Wood (681-6258) or Scott Lubben (235-3172) for more information.
