Albert, Part III

If he is buried
will the song stay

underground,
next to juniper roots,

to be rediscovered
by some burrowing animal

or some child
burying marbles,
a dead fish,
a pumpkin seed?

If he is made into ash
will the song fall silent

before the cicadas lay eggs
or we find the time

to make a better word for pain?
