I am one of those folks who love the smell of black powder smoke, campfires with spitted game roasting on them, sleeping on the ground and listening to the tales of a day's hunt. I prefer such with folks who love the same things. I like to look at and hold nice flintlock rifles made by caring hands of craftsmen. I like good leather accoutrement and admire those who have skill in leather to make them. But MOST OF ALL, I love powder horns, plain or classy, bare or brassy, buffalo or steer, carved or smoothed, relieved or not. Above all, I love horns that tell stories about the men who carry them, or who were reported or imagined to have carried them. And I love to build them.
I keep building THE HORN for myself, but I keep running into folks who think it was built for them...so I sell it. I continue to find people who love a horn enough to have me build it or replicate it or copy it for them. Maps are my forte, banners and lettering...sometimes there is a coat of arms or a beaver or other critter on them. I love ebony, fir, poplar, cherry, eucalyptus, walnut or mahogany plugs.
One day I wll get around to building THE HORN for myself, right after I get through building yours.
Please browse my gallery if you have no set preferences. E-mail me and let's chat about the horn that will fit you. I will do my best to make you proud of your horn.
