Prime Focus  is the method of choice.  The camera or ccd is  attached to the telescope in place of the eyepiece. This makes for some really good pictures. Focusing is rather hard. (see my HOME BREW page for a focusing aid)
I purchased a SAC7B ccd camera some months ago and have been fine tuning my setup, still have more to do to be where I want to be.  My plan is to have my tracking, collimation, and my technique up to a pleasing level before I attempt deep sky photography. There has been some improvement over the last year. Keep watch, I will add more, please enjoy.

Saturn  2004  Raw image -- one frame.  This is the first picture taken with SAC7B. You can see the rings and markings on  globe.

Saturn  2005  -- SAC7B at prime focus. Details include markings on globe, coloration at pole, shadow of globe on rings and very good ring detail. Color is nice too.

Moon 2005 --  almost full. These are test shots. Each is one raw frame no stacking. I plan to do a series of the
LUNAR 100 also.
