The beauty of having an observatory is the scope should be ready for use when you are. Taking the scope out by hand, setting up and finding the setup stars every time can really become a pain. If the scope is mounted on an equatorial wedge equipped pier then all that need be done is open the roof and synchronize with a known object and you're ready. Price of this so called SUPERWEDGE about $500. Not me, I'm too cheap! I designed and drew the prints for my home brew, and a very good friend of mine (thanks David) did the metal work. This design is very sturdy and works great.

When taking photo's with my ccd camera, focusing can be a real problem. I found some focusing aids in magazines but I thought I'd try my luck making one. The three holes will form three images on the computer screen, then by focusing until there is only one image, the picture will be more focused. Then remove the aid and expose the image. The focusing aid just snaps on and off.
