It is our duty and delight at All Saints to worship God. We do this primarily at our 9:30am Sunday morning worship service. Other worship opportunities include mid-week services during the seasons of Advent (the four weeks before Christmas) and Lent (the period of forty days leading up to Easter.) We believe that both the object and the subjectof our worship is always God. We direct our songs of praise to God as well as our prayers and the acknowledgement that we are in need of God's mercy. We We at All Saints follow the pattern of worship that Christians have used since the earliest of times. This pattern includes our gathering together in the presence of God, hearing the Word of God, sharing the supper of the Lord, and being dismissed into the world to serve others. These four parts form what is called the liturgy, a word from the Bible meaning literally the work or the service of the people. We believe that within this basic pattern there is room for a wide variety of musical expression and language that speaks to today's needs. At All Saints we use various settings and types of music. We also believe that we are not alone in our worship but are together with countless Christians the world over. For this reason, we at All Saints occasionally use music and settings from ethnic traditions different from our own. It is important for those worshipping at All Saints to know that we embrace a policy of open communion. We invite all who look to the Lord as their savior to join us in receiving His body and blood through the bread and wine of holy communion. Finally, it is God who both commands and inspires us to worship. Because of God's great act of love given to us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, it is truly our duty and delight to respond with our prayers, praise, and thanksgiving. |
