A
Magnum wing (left) is under construction with the halves sheeted, controls all
set up, tips carved and installed, flaps framed and hinged and the gear blocks
ready to epoxy in place. Note the foam plug for
additional strength in this high stress area. Tips & flaps are removable
for later experimentation with flaps of different construction and for making
molds. For large
models the wing panels are easier to work with than a completed wing so most sub-assemblies are
installed before joining the halves. |

A Time Machine wing (right) is ready to join. This design uses
fuselage mounted gear which is certainly an option for the Magnum. The
plywood mounting plate adds less than 1 ounce, so you can switch between fuselage and wing mounted gear in the same
plane. |
