While only a few years ago there was a dearth of suitable Stunt Engines, today's aspiring Control Line Flier enjoys a plethora of power plants purpose built for Stunt.  The choices are almost overwhelming.  In addition to the familiar side exhaust engines, rear exhaust designs are available that can be run with mufflers or pipes and their suppliers have all the accessories you need.

Modern powerplants are not cheap and cost may be a factor in choosing your engine.  However, quality & performance are very good to excellent & the suppliers stand behind their products.  The photo at right shows a few examples of engines in the ".50" size range.  Clockwise from the left they are: Super Tiger .46, Stakler .46 RE, Stalker .51 RE, GMA Jett .50 and Double star .50.  All of the modern engines share the same mount bolt pattern as the ST .46.

The old Fox, OS-Max, McCoy, Veco, Super Tiger, Johnson, etc. engines of years past are still available through organizations such as M.E.C.A. (Model Engine Collectors Association) which publishes a Swap Sheet six times a year.  Annual dues is $25.00 and you can place one AD per issue.  The AD can include offers to buy, sell and trade engines and closely related items such as kits & accessories.  The items don't have to be ancient.  You can find fairly recent stuff.

Good-To-Go Models™ has a modest private collection of select Classic Stunt Engines (OS, Super Tiger, Merco, Veco & Fox).  Some are occasionally offered for sale via the M.E.C.A. Swap Sheet, this web site or "through the grape vine".  A few modern engines (OS, Stalker, DS, etc.) are periodically sold, usually to make room for something else.  Trades are always considered.  Send email to request a copy of the current list.

Stunt News published by P.A.M.P.A (Precision Aerobatics Model Pilots Association) is an excellent source for suppliers of engines, kits and anything related to Stunt (click to "Other Sites"). It  features brilliant photos of beautiful models in addition to contest results and interesting technical articles written by experts and top competitors.  The annual dues is $20.00.
