Three trains converge at Canyon Creek. An RS-1 has just passed through
the trussed bridge as it heads toward Spokane with a load of coal from
the mines in Burke. In the background a GP 9 hauls grain and other raw
material on its way toward Spokane Yard. In the foreground a Mikado
carrying a consist of billboard refers lumbers across the creek at
Tri-Trestle overlook.
Spencer Overpass
Traffic on Spencer Overpass highlights the busy activity of the
switching yard at Spokane where the Canyon Creek Branch Line interfaces
with the main yard.
Coaling Tower
The coaling & water towers near the Engine House form the hub of the
Spokane switching yard. A lone billboard refer awaits unloading at
LeMon's Fruit Warehouse.
The Rowhouses
An RS-1 (UP #1189) pushes three coal cars up the grade behind the homes
on "Rowhouse LaRue" to their final destination at O. L. King & Sons
Coal.
Spotting Coal
Traffic waits impatiently for the passing of the weekly coal delivery
to King & Sons Coal. One disgruntled vehicle decides to use the time
for a quick fill up at the local Mobil Gas Station.
